Visitor Comments: I am SL Bill Bright's daughter I am very interested to find your web site and all this information. My father used to tell us all about his time during the war and was very proud of 138 Squadron. Unfortunately he passed away on 15th September 2007. I am lucky to have all his albums with many photographs taken at Tempsford and also during his training in Canada previous to this. |

Visitor Comments: I have recently (2009) come into possession of journals kept by my Uncle Geoffrey HB Slinn, RAAF who was a member of 138 Squadron at Tempsford. He was on the crew of Stirling LK151 NF-E which was lost over Denmark on 26/27 November 1944. |

Visitor Comments: My mother's cousin, Frank Greenwood flew Lysanders into France "in the moonlight". That is all I know of his wartime service other than that he was with RCAF #1 in 1940 and flew a Hurricane. Frank returned to Canada in 1945 and worked in the forestry industry for 15 years, spending most of his time alone in the forest "timber cruising" (measuring the quantity of timber available for harvest). He was pretty cut up over a bad wartime marriage and, presumably, the stress of his wartime experiences. However, in the early 60's he became a high school French teacher, re-married and lived peacefully in Victoria BC. He passed in the mid 80's. He was educated at Upper Canada College and spoke Parisian accented French fluently. Presumably this was why he was selected for special duties. I would very much like to learn more of his service in WW II. Was he at Tempsford? |

Visitor Comments: In researching the history of this airfiled for a historical novel I found that the usual British secracy and understatement of the events have left far too much unsung. The stories of the SOE operations out of Tempsford and Tangmere could fill several books. |

Visitor Comments: Seeking information on what missions my father flew during the war. He was F/Lt Frank Robert Young, he spoke of flyingfrom a field that looked like an old farm with a tool shed. Think he was a navigator on a plane that bombed Berlin. One mission the plane received heavy fire and barely made it back to England before crashing. He had a bit of a holiday while his injuries healed. Be great to learn more about him.
Thanks, Frank Young |

Visitor Comments: I am conducting research in the operations of the Hercule-Sacristain-Buckmaster resistance network for a book I am writing. In particular, those whose stories I seek to capture are André Dubois (Hercule), Frederick Floege (Paul), and members of the Auduc family, Alfred, Renée and especially Jean-Jacques. Any assistance anyone might provide would be greatly appreciated. |
